About us
The Union Catalogue of the Czech Republic (UC CR) contains information on books and serial publications held in the collections of libraries and other public institutions of the Czech Republic. The electronic version of the catalogue has started in 1995 and the on-line SKC Database nowadays contains about 6.2 millions records of monographic, special, and serial publications (journals, proceedings...) of foreign and domestic production.

Beside the bibliographic part the SKC Database records contain a Location Code as identifier of the owner of the document. The Location Code provides direct link to the owner's catalogue with actual detailed information on the document, and likewise a link to the ADR Database (Libraries & Information Centers in the Czech Republic). This database includes all contact data (address, phone numbers, e-mail and URLs of the library) necessary for single users as well as for library loan services. SKC records of serials also contain information on available year's volumes held by the owner.
The SFX service can be used for further localization of a document in other catalogues and databases.
The Union Catalogue also offers to librarians:
- Possibility of interlibrary loans
- Downloading records via Z39.50
- Downloads of all records where the library is marked as the document owner in one batch file
- On-line updating of information about the owner's holdings
- On-line updating of contact information about document owners in the ADR Database
